  • Here is a rare opportunity to combine from-scratch 3D design and real-life welding steel. One day you will be using SolidWorks or Inventor to design a new trailer, accessory or component and the other day you will be refining your latest program, out in the workshop with our Robot Welder getting your hands dirty, all while supporting our current product line and continuous improvements. We want to consolidate our product designs, maximise efficiencies and improve our consistency and quality.

    Your main contribution with the Robot Welder will be to evaluate and develop further the existing programs to enable more weld-time of the robot. We will also need your expertise to transform ideas and customer's needs into quick and feasible 3D concepts to support Sales and completely developed designs to support Production of our custom-built trailers. There will times to participate on the on-going development of our standard range of trailers too.

    More than 40,000 trailers have been built at Kea Trailers and we are proud of being the leading manufacturer of Light Trailers in NZ. All happens here in Maui St, Hamilton, always innovating and offering custom solutions to cater for our customer's specific needs.

    Our successful applicant will have:
    • Diploma in Engineering (Level 6) or Equivalent - Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical and Automation - all will be considered
    • Minimum 2+ years of experience in at least one of the following roles/industries: Product Development, Machinery Design, Plant Integration / Commissioning, Automation Engineering
    • Proficient in 3D Mechanical Design, Modelling, and Production drawings in SolidWorks or Inventor
    • Interest in automotive and constant product development
    • Willingness to learn and further develop skills required to the task
    • Proactive commitment to Health & Safety
    This is foreseen as an Intermediate experience role, but further experienced applicants are more than welcome to discuss responsibilities and options (unfortunately won't suit a junior).

    This role is based in Te Rapa without travelling expected, work hours: 8.00 to 16.30 Mon to Fri - overtime may be required due to peaks of demand.
