    We are Kings Garden Cafe, a brand spanking new cafe that is currently being built in the Botany area. Passionate about great service, we are an energetic, friendly and fun team who love what we do. Drawing inspiration from top worldwide cafes, our food offering will showcase how plants can be presented in new and exciting ways that minimise environmental impact and delight our customers.

    The role

    We are looking for a Chef de Partie with strong skills in pastry to be a part of our opening team. Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Prepare and cook menu items to order
    • Prepare an eye-catching range of cabinet food, including fresh baking and patisserie
    • Provide creative input into menu development
    • Control and ensure proper rotation of stock
    • Build relationships with suppliers
    • Organise your workflow and lead by example so that the kitchen runs like clockwork
    • Ensuring all council requirements are adhered to and the kitchen is consistently sparkling clean
    • Participate in building team culture - we like to work hard and have plenty of fun while we do it!
    About you

    To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualities:
    • Professional cookery qualification - NZQA level 5 or above
    • Versatile in skills - this role requires a high level of patisserie experience plus ability to cook to order on the hot line
    • Ability to work as part of a team and use good communication skills, as well as work autonomously
    • Organised and able to multitask whilst maintaining high standards and attention to detail
    • Excellent food knowledge
    • Be flexible with working hours (weekends and public holidays are a must), honest and reliable
    • At least 5 years of experience working in a chef role
    • Have an excellent understanding of Food Control Plan
    • Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills
    • Immaculate personal presentation
